Hyperpigmentation may worsen in summertime, but if you use skincare products with the correct set of ingredients, you can lessen this problem:
- Hydroquionone and Kojic acid, two popular fade ingredients, are UV sensitizers and best NOT to use in summer! If you use these products in the summer, your skin can get redder and your hyperpigmentation may even worsen.
- Some of the UV absorbers used in regular sunscreens can make you potentially red or more sensitive to the sun which in turn can make your hyperpigmentation worse, even though you are using SPF. If you experience this issue, try a chemical-free sunscreen with zinc, like Daily Replenishing SPF 30+.
- Use Vita C-20 Brightening Creme or Ultra Benefits®, which have fade ingredients that are actually UV-protective.
